Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo for Large Homes

For a large or multi-level home, choose a robot with multi-floor maps, recharge-and-resume and a dock with big tanks: our top pick is the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete. Mopping uses battery fast, so big homes rely on the robot returning to charge and finishing the job. Robots still can’t climb stairs, so plan on carrying one between floors or buying a second dock.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Expect shorter runs when mopping

Ecovacs lists about a third less runtime when mopping than vacuuming alone, and dirtier floors cut runtime further, per Roborock.

02

Use recharge and resume

iRobot’s Recharge and Resume sends the robot back to charge and lets it continue where it stopped; most brands offer a version of this.

03

Consider a plumbing kit

Roborock, Narwal and Dreame sell refill-and-drain kits for some models, which helps when a big home empties the water tanks quickly.

Honest note

Coverage claims are optimistic. Roborock says its Qrevo Edge 3 Pro can cover nearly 350 m² per run, a figure Vacuum Wars hasn’t verified, while Notebookcheck’s Saros 10R covered 85 m² with 14% battery left. None of the sources we cite confirms a stair-climbing robot on sale in the US.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is the best robot vacuum and mop for a large house?

The Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete for most large homes: Tom’s Guide picks it as the best robot vacuum overall, and it auto-refills, doses detergent and climbs high thresholds. The Roborock Saros 20 is the main alternative.

How many floors can a robot map?

Usually several. Roborock’s app supports up to four floors, and iRobot says Smart Map Roombas store 10 maps. You still carry the robot between floors.

Does mopping drain the battery faster?

Yes. Ecovacs lists 228 minutes vacuuming versus 145 vacuuming and mopping on one model, about a third less. Dreame rates the X50 Ultra at up to 220 minutes in its quietest mode.

Can a robot vacuum climb stairs?

None of the sources we cite confirms one on sale in the US. Roborock’s Saros Rover, Dreame’s Cyber X and eufy’s MarsWalker have been shown, without confirmed US availability.

Do I need a dock on each floor?

Not to map each floor, but it helps for daily runs. Without a dock, the robot can’t empty itself or wash its mop on that floor, so you would empty and rinse it by hand.

How long does a robot take to clean a big home?

We found no independent figure for 2,500+ sq ft homes. For scale, Consumer Reports saw robot mops take 50 to 100 minutes on its test floors, and TechRadar noted a three-hour run on one robot.
