Find your match

Start from your home, not the brand

Floors, rugs and pets decide which robot fits. Pick the line that sounds most like your house.

Roborock Saros 20 robot

I share my floors with a shedding pet

Start with

Roborock Saros 20

Look for anti-tangle brushes, camera-based obstacle avoidance and a dock that empties itself, because pet hair fills a bin fast.

Narwal Flow 2 robot

My floors are hardwood, LVP or laminate

Start with

Narwal Flow 2

Wood and laminate makers warn against standing water. A flat mop with controlled water and a sealed floor are the safe combination.

Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni robot

I want to touch the robot as little as possible

Start with

Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni

An all-in-one dock empties the bin, washes and dries the mop and refills the tank, so your jobs shrink to bags and water tanks.

Roborock Q7 M5+ robot

I want a mop robot without spending much

Start with

Roborock Q7 M5+

Budget combos usually skip mop washing and mop lifting. Know which one you can live without before you buy.

Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow robot

I want the mop to rinse itself as it goes

Start with

Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow

Roller mops wash themselves continuously in the robot, so they wipe with a cleaner surface. They tend to be weaker in corners.

Dreame X50 Ultra robot

My home mixes rugs and hard floors

Start with

Dreame X50 Ultra

The mop has to stay off the rugs. Higher mop lift helps on low pile; leaving the mops in the dock is the surest fix for thick carpet.

Our picks in detail

What each robot does well, and who should skip it

Specifications are each brand’s own; performance notes come from independent reviewers. We have not tested or used these robots ourselves. How we pick.

Best overall#1

Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow

This Roborock roller-mop robot rinses its mop as it goes instead of smearing the same dirty pad around, and it lifts the roller on rugs. The Hook Up named it its overall and mopping winner in a 2026 comparison, and Tom’s Guide lists it among its best robot mops.

Why it stands out

  • SpiraFlow self-cleaning roller with a scraper that sends dirty water to the robot’s own tank (brand).
  • Roller lifts up to 15 mm and a cover slides over it on carpet, per Roborock and Gizmodo.
  • Dock empties the bin, washes the roller in water up to 75°C and dries it with warm air (brand).
MopSelf-washing roller mop
On rugsLifts roller up to 15 mm
DockAuto-empty; 75°C mop wash; warm-air dry
AvoidanceStructured light + RGB camera
Height4.7 in

Good fit if

  • Most of your floors are hardwood, vinyl or tile with a few low rugs.
  • You care more about wide, even mopping than edge-perfect corners.
  • You want a strong roller mop and don’t mind topping up the robot’s water yourself.

Skip it if

  • You need perfect corners: Gizmodo saw gaps of up to 8 inches along some edges.
  • Low furniture matters: it is about 4.7 in tall.
  • You have dense, long pet hair; Tom’s Guide saw it struggle with clumps.

Gizmodo’s dried-stain test cleared milk and mayo in one pass but needed two runs for BBQ sauce. Treat it as a strong daily mop, not a scrubber for set-in messes.

Best premium#2

Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete

Dreame’s flagship does almost everything on the spec sheet: spinning pads that swing out to edges and stay in the dock for deep carpet, two AI cameras, and threshold climbing Dreame rates at up to 8.8 cm on double-layer steps. Tom’s Guide names it the best robot vacuum overall.

Why it stands out

  • Pads lift 10.5 mm, extend toward edges and detach automatically for high-pile carpet (brand).
  • Dock washes pads in water up to 100°C, refills the robot and doses detergent from two compartments (brand).
  • Just 3.13 in tall with its sensor lowered, so it reaches under more sofas (brand).
MopDual spinning pads; extend and detach
On rugsLifts 10.5 mm; leaves pads in dock for deep pile
DockAuto-empty; 100°C wash; auto refill and dosing
AvoidanceTwo AI cameras; 280+ object types
Height3.13 in (sensor lowered)

Good fit if

  • You want the most capable all-rounder and the price is not the deciding factor.
  • Your home has raised thresholds or tall door sills.
  • You want edge-reaching spinning pads rather than a roller.

Skip it if

  • Your space is tight: Tom’s Guide calls the dock bulky.
  • You want a big onboard bin; Vacuum Wars notes a small 235 ml bin.
  • You mostly need a basic vacuum; this is a lot of robot to pay for.
Best mid-range#3

eufy Omni C28

The C28 brings a self-washing roller mop and a full dock down to a mid-range price. Yahoo Shopping picks it as its best robot mop and vacuum combo overall, and it scored highest in Tom’s Guide’s 2026 pet-hair test.

Why it stands out

  • HydroJet self-cleaning roller mop (brand).
  • Dock with a 3 L bag rated for about 75 days, auto refill, warm-air drying and an 8 L wastewater tank (brand).
  • Scored 87 in Tom’s Guide’s pet-hair test, ahead of pricier models.
MopSelf-washing roller mop
On rugsLifts roller (10.8 mm per Vacuum Wars)
DockAuto-empty; room-temp wash; warm-air dry; auto refill
AvoidanceLiDAR + line laser
Height4.4 in (Vacuum Wars measured)

Good fit if

  • You want roller mopping and a full dock without flagship pricing.
  • You have a shedding pet and mostly hard floors.

Skip it if

  • You want hot-water mop washing: Vacuum Wars says it washes at room temperature.
  • You need strong obstacle avoidance or a low profile; Vacuum Wars measured it at 4.4 in tall.
  • Edges matter most; Yahoo flags weak edge cleaning.
Best budget#4

Roborock Q7 M5+

Forbes and Yahoo pick the Q7 M5+ as their budget robot vacuum and mop, and RTINGS and TechRadar pick the Q7 M5, the same robot sold without the auto-empty dock. It is a good LiDAR vacuum with a self-emptying dock, plus a clip-on mop pad for light wiping. It is a vacuum first and a mop second.

Why it stands out

  • LiDAR mapping with room-by-room control, at a budget price.
  • Self-emptying dock; Roborock rates a bag at about 7 weeks.
  • Clip-on drag mop with three water levels for quick wipes (brand).
MopClip-on drag pad
On rugsNo mop lift; remove pad for rugs
DockAuto-empty only (about 7 weeks per bag)
AvoidanceLiDAR navigation; no camera
Height3.9 in

Good fit if

  • You mainly want vacuuming and an occasional light mop.
  • You are fine attaching the mop pad on days you want to mop.

Skip it if

  • You have rugs and want to vacuum and mop in one run: the mop does not lift.
  • You want hands-off mopping; there is no mop washing or drying.
  • Cords and socks are common on your floor; Yahoo says it pushes objects rather than avoiding them.
Best for pet hair#5

Roborock Saros 20

The Saros 20 is Roborock’s vacuuming flagship with a full mopping dock. Tom’s Guide picks it for pet hair, TechRadar for carpet, and Forbes as its smartest robot vacuum and mop.

Why it stands out

  • Detaches its mops for carpet-only runs and washes them at up to 100°C (brand).
  • StarSight 2.0 3D sensing plus an RGB camera, recognizing 300+ object types (brand).
MopDual spinning mops; extending arm
On rugsDetaches mops in carpet modes
DockAuto-empty; 100°C wash; warm refill; detergent
Avoidance3D sensing + RGB camera; 300+ types
Height3.14 in

Good fit if

  • You have a long-haired pet and a mix of rugs and hard floors.
  • You want strong obstacle recognition for socks, cords and pet toys.
  • You have tall thresholds; Roborock rates it for double-layer sills up to 3.46 in.

Skip it if

  • Mopping is your top priority: Tom’s Guide saw the mop miss spots.
  • You want a big onboard bin; Vacuum Wars calls it small.
Best for hardwood floors#6

Narwal Flow 2

Narwal’s Flow 2 uses a flat, self-rinsing track mop and dual cameras. Forbes Vetted names it the best robot vacuum and mop overall, and TechRadar picks it for obstacle avoidance.

Why it stands out

  • FlowWash track mop rinses itself with heated water as it cleans, with 7–12 N of pressure (brand).
  • Dual 1080p cameras for obstacle avoidance; TechRadar’s best pick for avoidance.
  • 2.5 L dust bag Narwal rates at 120 days.
MopSelf-rinsing track mop
On rugsLifts mop 12 mm
DockAuto-empty (120-day bag); hot-water wash; detergent
AvoidanceDual 1080p cameras
Height3.7 in

Good fit if

  • Most of your home is hardwood, LVP or laminate.
  • Pets, cords and toys end up on the floor.

Skip it if

  • You have a lot of carpet: The Hook Up measured weak carpet pickup.
  • You want quick runs; TechRadar noted a slow three-hour clean.
  • You will leave it idle for long stretches; Forbes noted odor.
Best for carpet + hard floors#7

Dreame X50 Ultra

The X50 Ultra is the mixed-floor specialist: it lifts its spinning pads 10.5 mm on short pile and drops them in the dock for long pile. Forbes calls it its best upgrade pick, and TechRadar lists the Complete version as its premium choice.

Why it stands out

  • Pads lift on short pile and detach automatically for long-pile carpet (brand).
  • Dock washes pads at up to 80°C, refills the robot and holds a 3.2 L bag rated for up to 100 days (brand).

Not sure where to start?

Most homes with hard floors and a few rugs do well with a roller-mop robot that lifts its mop and has a full dock. The Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow fits that brief. Dock features and what’s in the box are on the product page.

How to choose

Five things that matter more than suction numbers

Most disappointing robot mops come down to the wrong mop for the floor, a mop that soaks the rugs, or a dock that skips the chore you hate.

01

Match the mop to the floor

The Verge says spinning pads suit textured floors like tile, while roller mops suit hardwood and vinyl. Flat vibrating pads are gentler and use less water.

02

Keep the mop off your rugs

Brand-rated mop lift ranges from about 8 mm to 1.1 in (eufy Omni S2). For thick carpet, a robot that leaves its mops in the dock, or a carpet no-go zone, is the safer choice.

03

Buy the dock you need

A full dock empties the bin, washes and dries the mop and refills the tank. You still empty dirty water and change bags; TechRadar notes the dock base needs wiping too.

04

Pay for avoidance if you have pets or cords

Camera-based systems recognize hundreds of object types, but TechRadar’s tester says none is perfect. Pick up cords and socks before a run either way.

05

Check height and thresholds

Low-profile flagships measure around 3.1 in tall with the sensor lowered, while many others are 3.8–4.4 in. Measure under your sofa and check threshold climb if you have raised door sills.

FAQ

Robot vacuum and mop combos: questions answered

Straight answers to the questions people ask before buying, drawn from independent reviewers, brand support pages and flooring makers’ care guides.

Do robot vacuum mops actually work?5

Do robot vacuum and mop combos actually clean floors?

Yes, for routine upkeep. TechRadar’s reviewer calls robot mopping great for everyday maintenance and a real effort-saver, though not enough to skip manual cleaning entirely. In Consumer Reports’ tests with dried espresso and juice, the best robot mops left floors clean, and models with spinning mop heads did best.

Can a robot mop replace mopping by hand?

Not completely. The Verge says robot vacuum-mops still don’t clean as well as using a vacuum and mop yourself, and that they need more upkeep than vacuum-only robots. TechRadar’s reviewer would not trust one with a big spill, because it can spread the liquid. Plan on an occasional manual clean.

Are robot vacuum and mop combos worth it?

For homes with mostly hard floors, usually yes. Tom’s Guide concludes they are a good buy for hard-floored homes and busy people, and less suited to heavy spills and stubborn stains. Vacuum Wars found that some top robot mops beat leading cordless wet-dry vacuums in its stain test.

Can a robot mop remove dried-on stains?

Some can, often with a second pass. Gizmodo’s test of the Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow cleared dried milk and mayo in one pass but needed two for BBQ sauce, and still left some behind. TechRadar says a typical robot mop won’t scrub hard enough for a dried-on stain.

Should the robot vacuum before it mops?

For dirty floors, yes. Dreame recommends its Mop After Vac mode for heavily soiled rooms and keeps simultaneous vacuuming and mopping for light, frequent cleans. Tom’s Guide notes that dust left on the floor smears into streaks when it gets wet. Roborock offers a Vacuum carpet first mode for the same reason.

Choosing a mop system5

Roller mop or spinning pads: which is better?

It depends on your floors. The Verge says spinning pads suit textured floors like tile, while rollers suit hardwood and vinyl and cover more area. In Vacuum Wars’ dried-stain test, spinning pads generally removed stains better, with one eufy roller as a standout exception.

Do roller mops clean corners well?

Usually not as well as spinning pads. The Verge says roller mops largely miss corners and baseboards, while extending spinning pads get closer. Gizmodo found the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow sometimes mopped within half an inch of the wall but left gaps of up to 8 inches at other times.

What is a vibrating mop pad?

It is a flat pad that vibrates against the floor instead of spinning. Roborock rates its VibraRise system at thousands of strokes per minute. The Verge describes flat vibrating pads as gentler and lower on water use, and TechRadar says vibration or downward pressure helps loosen dried dirt that a plain drag pad would only wipe.

What does mop extension do?

It pushes the mop or side brush outward to reach edges, corners and under furniture. Dreame says the X50 Ultra’s RoboSwing mop extends up to 4 cm, and Roborock says the Saros 20’s FlexiArm reaches toe-kicks. The Verge says extending pads clean edges better, though not perfectly.

Does a higher suction (Pa) rating mean better cleaning?

Not reliably. PCMag notes there is no regulated standard for measuring pascals in robot vacuums, so brands may test differently. In PCMag’s sand test, an 18,000 Pa Ecovacs picked up less than its 8,000 Pa predecessor. Brush design, dock and navigation matter more than the headline number.

Floors, rugs and carpet5

Is a robot mop safe on hardwood floors?

On sealed hardwood used with care, often yes, but check your floor maker first. The National Wood Flooring Association says not to use wet mops or steam mops, and Shaw’s hardwood warranty excludes wet or damp mopping. Narwal itself advises against robot mopping unsealed hardwood. Use the lowest water setting.

Can I use a robot mop on laminate?

Yes, lightly. Pergo says steam mops and wet mops are forbidden on almost all laminate, and Mannington says never to flood the floor. Ecovacs advises setting the robot to deliver just enough dampness. Keep water low, avoid puddles and use only the cleaning solution your robot’s brand approves.

Is a robot mop okay for LVP, vinyl and tile?

Generally yes. COREtec says its luxury vinyl planks won’t swell from water but recommends a damp mop and no vinegar or wax. Shaw advises a neutral-pH cleaner on vinyl. For tile, Daltile says to remove loose dirt before mopping and never mop with dirty water, which a self-washing dock helps with.

What happens when a robot mop reaches a rug?

That depends on the model. Mid-range and better robots detect carpet and lift their mops, TechRadar notes, while basic ones drag a damp pad across unless you remove it. Some, like the Roborock Saros 20, can leave the mops in the dock and vacuum rugs separately.

How high does the mop need to lift?

High enough to clear your rugs. Brand figures range from about 8 mm (Roborock Q10 S5+) to 1.1 in (eufy Omni S2). The Verge notes a 10 mm lift won’t suit thick carpet. For high pile, choose a robot that detaches its mops or set a carpet no-mop zone.

Docks and upkeep5

What does an all-in-one dock do?

It takes over most daily chores. Roborock says the Saros dock empties the dustbin, refills the robot’s water, adds detergent, washes the mops in hot water and dries them with warm air. Dreame lists the X50 Ultra base with a 3.2 L dust bag and separate clean and used water tanks.

How often do you empty the dock?

The dust bag lasts weeks; the dirty-water tank much less. Brands claim 60 to 120 days per bag, but Roborock’s own support page suggests a new bag every 7 weeks, and Dreame gives an L50 Ultra interval of 2–4 months. Busy homes and pets shorten every figure.

Does hot water in the dock sanitize the mop?

Don’t assume it does. Docks heat water to wash the mop, not the floor, and Ecovacs says hot water alone cannot disinfect without a cleaning solution. Vacuum Wars measured actual mop-wash water at about 101–114°F on most docks, well below brand claims of 167–212°F.

Can the dock connect to my plumbing?

Some can, with a kit. Roborock sells Refill & Drainage versions and lists water-pressure and hose-length limits. Narwal sells an Automatic Water Exchange System for some Freo models, and Dreame sells hookup kits separately by region. Check model compatibility before you buy.

What maintenance is still left for me?

More than the ads suggest. TechRadar’s tester says grime builds up in the dock base, mop pads sometimes need hand-washing and side brushes need de-hairing. iRobot’s schedule for its AutoWash dock calls for a new main brush every 6–12 months and new filters and mop pads every 3–6 months.

Ready for a dock that empties, washes and dries?Browse self-emptying combos
Water, solutions and smells5

Can I put vinegar or my own floor cleaner in the tank?

No. iRobot says vinegar causes corrosion and voids the warranty, and Dreame warns that bleach or vinegar can damage the robot, that essential oils can clog the system and never to use dish soap. Roborock, Ecovacs and eufy all say to use only their own solution.

Why does my robot mop leave streaks?

Usually a dirty pad, too much solution or dust on the floor. Narwal lists saturated pads, excess cleaner, a dirty wash tray and hard-water minerals as causes, and Tom’s Guide adds shop-bought cleaner in the tank and mopping before vacuuming. A second run often clears light streaks.

Does the robot mop the floor with hot water?

Mostly no; the heat is for washing the mop in the dock. Ecovacs says its station heats water to wash the roller while the robot mops with cold water. Ecovacs also recommends cold or room-temperature water on wood, because excess heat can warp it.

Why does my robot mop smell?

Usually from the dirty-water tank or a damp mop. For odor, eufy says to scrub and dry the dirty tank and its filter, soak the roller mop in hot water and clean the dock’s filter tray. GearLab credits hot-water pad washing on the Mova P10 Pro Ultra with avoiding the musty smell of cheaper models.

How often should I replace the mop pads?

About every 3 to 6 months. Roborock and iRobot both recommend that window, and eufy says closer to 1–3 months with daily mopping and pets. Replace pads sooner if they fray, stay stiff, smell sour after washing or start leaving streaks.

Pets, cords and allergies5

Will a robot vacuum mop avoid pet poop?

Not reliably. Ecovacs says there is no 100% guarantee and advises picking up solid waste first, and TechRadar’s tester would never trust a robot to avoid dog poop. Camera models recognize hundreds of object types (brand figures), but results vary from test to test.

Are robot vacuum mops good for pet hair?

Many are, but results vary a lot. In Tom’s Guide’s 2026 pet-hair test, the eufy Omni C28 scored 87, the Saros 20 80 and the Qrevo Curv 2 Flow 75. Consumer Reports says top performers pick up nearly all embedded fur without tangling. Empty the bin and clean filters more often with pets.

Should I let the robot mop after a pet accident?

Clean liquid accidents by hand first. iRobot says liquid accidents should always be cleaned manually, and Ecovacs advises absorbing urine before mopping and drying the pads thoroughly. The AKC says to keep pets off a floor until cleaning products have dried.

Do robot vacuums help with allergies?

They help you vacuum more often, which allergy groups recommend. The EPA and AAFA both advise weekly vacuuming with a HEPA filter. AAFA warns that weak seals can release allergens, and its certification tests for that. eufy says its Omni E35 earned the asthma & allergy friendly certification.

How loud is a robot vacuum and its dock?

The robot is moderate; the auto-empty is loud but brief. GearLab measured a Roborock Saros 10R at 50 dB cleaning and 66.4 dB emptying. Ecovacs rates its docks’ dust collection at 73–79 dBA, and Narwal says empty bursts last 10–15 seconds. Schedule runs when you are out.

Mapping, privacy and brands5

LiDAR or camera navigation: which is better?

LiDAR suits most homes. TechRadar says LiDAR robots are faster, more reliable and work in the dark, while camera-only (vSLAM) robots are lower but less accurate. Most current flagships pair LiDAR or solid-state 3D sensing with a front camera for obstacle recognition.

Can one robot map more than one floor?

Yes, on most current models. Roborock’s app recognizes separate levels and supports up to four floors, and iRobot says Smart Map Roombas can store 10 maps. You still have to carry the robot upstairs; none of the sources we cite confirms a stair-climbing robot on sale in the US.

Are camera robot vacuums a privacy risk?

There have been real incidents, so it is worth checking. MIT Technology Review reported leaked images from Roomba test units in 2022, and researchers showed Ecovacs robots could be hijacked in 2024. Roborock says obstacle photos stay encrypted on the robot, and Ecovacs and Dreame cite UL Diamond IoT security ratings.

Do robot vacuums work with Alexa, Google or Apple Home?

Many do, and Matter support is growing; Matter Alpha notes Roborock supported Alexa and Google Home before adding Matter. Robot vacuums became a Matter device type in 2023, and Apple’s Home app added basic control in iOS 18.4. Maps, rooms and maintenance still mostly live in each brand’s own app.

Is it still safe to buy a Roomba?

iRobot is still selling and supporting robots. Its supplier, Shenzhen Picea Robotics, took over the company through a Chapter 11 process completed in 2026, and iRobot stays in Bedford, Massachusetts. CEO Gary Cohen told TechRadar the app will continue and warranties will be honored, though Engadget calls buying a new Roomba in 2026 questionable.

How we pick

How this guide is put together

  • We compare each brand’s published specifications: mop system, mop lift or removal, dock features, navigation and obstacle avoidance, height and threshold climbing.
  • We read independent testing from Consumer Reports, Tom’s Guide, TechRadar, Vacuum Wars, GearLab and others, plus brand manuals and flooring makers’ care guides.
  • We look for agreement across sources, and we say when reviewers disagree or a brand figure looks optimistic.
  • We do not lab-test, accept free products or take payment for placement.

What a robot mop can and cannot do

Robot mops keep already-clean floors fresh with light, frequent passes. They are not built for big spills, sticky messes or deep grout cleaning, and the dock still needs emptying and wiping.
